Dem solltest Du keine Bedeutung schenken. Diese Verträge sind meistens mit Teamoption oder keinerlei Garantien verbunden. Die NBA-Teams sind in solchen Situationen in der stärkeren Position. Wenn es gut läuft, haben die Teams längerfristig (und günstig) die Rechte am Spieler und falls es schlecht läuft, trotzdem keine Verpflichtungen.
Al Thornton, Rodney Stuckey, Nick Young, Rudy Fernandez, Wilson Chandler, usw.Das Optimum aus der Draftplatzierung (#13, Draft 2007), nicht das Optimum aus dem Spieler.
Abgesehen davon sollte man die Manager doch nach der Entwicklung des gepickten Spielers messen. Dass Wright als #13 mglw. bpa war, ändert nichts daran, dass er mehr bust als Optimum ist.

Da bin ich nicht ganz Deiner Meinung. Wenn man sich nicht mit der Draft und den Nachwuchsspielern beschäftigt, hat man als Fan möglicherweise das Recht die Draftentscheidung allein an der Entwicklung des Spieler festzumachen, auch wenn dies natürlich sehr oberflächlich ist. Im anderen Fall - wenn man die Spieler zum Zeitpunkt der Draft kennt und bewertet - finde ich einen Vorwurf Jahre später nicht nachvollziehbar. Zum Zeitpunkt der 2007er Draft durften die Verantwortlichen der Hornets, Du und ich dieselbe Meinung gehabt haben, wer an #13 zu ziehen war. Wenn es jemand damals bereits anders gesehen hat, ist jener natürlich berechtigt zu kritisieren. Rückblickend kann man höchstens in Frage stellen, ob die Evaluation des Talents damals richtig durchgeführt wurde. Auf der anderen Seite spielen bei Entwicklungen nunmal eine Unmenge von Faktoren eine Rolle, sodass eine perfekte Prognose kaum möglich ist.
Die Draft ist halt auch ein bisschen Glücksspiel. Nicht so extrem wie beim Roulette, sondern eher wie beim Poker.
Wenn ich mich mal kurz einklinken darf: Julian Wright wurde 2007 viel niedriger gedraftet, als lange Zeit erwartet worden war. Im Vorfeld jenes starken Drafts war er noch als Top-10-Kandidat im Gespräch. Außerdem zählte (und zählt) Wright zu den fünf talentiertesten Spielern seines Drafts und ist vom Potential her eigentlich nur hinter Oden und Durant einzuordnen. An #13 war er damals ein Steal. Wie seine NBA-Karriere dann verlaufen ist - nämlich ausgesprochen enttäuschend -, ist wiederum eine ganz andere Geschichte.

Hab's auch gerde gelesen. Den Typ kenne ich ja mal garnicht, aber Scout/Executive bei Spurs/Cavs ist ja nicht so schlecht. Mal schauen, was sie da aus dem Hut gezaubert haben und was er uns letztendlich bringt.

This is what we expect will be the starting lineup, at least to begin the season. The only real question mark is how Hedo will fare at the power forward position, which I’ve looked at fairly in depth both offensively and defensively. But other than that you have four returning starters including one who is only improving in Lopez. This is a veteran group with a ton of experience to go along with that talent.
The conventional lineup: Nash-Richardson-Turkoglu-Warrick-Lopez
The starting lineup is a bit of an experiment, so this is the more standard, positionally correct group. Turkoglu slides to his natural position at small forward, and Warrick jumps in as the power forward. This group would pack it in the paint a bit more, but because Warrick is a capable mid-range shooter, they wouldn’t struggle with spacing
The three-point shooters: Nash-Richardson-Dudley-Turkoglu-Frye
This may be the most impressive lineup of them all. Every one of these players are above-average three-point shooters — all over 40 percent last year except for J-Rich and Hedo, who were very close — and would make for the most spread floor in NBA history. In fact, this may be the best three-point shooting lineup from top to bottom in NBA history. They’re all shooters, but yet could all realistically play the position they’re slotted at. Frye would run the pick and pop, Turkoglu or Nash could play spot up or run the point and Dudley and J-Rich are your spot up shooters.
The defensive lineup: Dragic-Childress-Dudley-Clark-Lopez
The best thing about this depth and versatility is that the Suns finally have the personnel to play a little bit of defense, at least on the perimeter anyway. Dragic, Childress and Dudley are all above-average defenders and, although he may struggle guarding power forwards, Clark is as well. Then with Lopez as the anchor, this team would shut down opposing offenses unlike any group the Suns have had in recent history.
The BIG lineup: Nash-Childress-Turkoglu-Frye-Lopez
While the Suns do lack some size up front, they have a ton of ways they can offer size on the perimeter. At 6-foot-8 Childress is considered a big shooting guard, and at 6-foot-10 Turkoglu is also an oversized small forward. Although he isn’t a banger, Frye is 6-foot-11 and Lopez a seven-footer. If the Suns need size, this is the lineup they can offer. If Clark ends up cracking the rotation they could even move Turkoglu to shooting guard and substitute Clark for Childress and have an even bigger lineup.
The athletic lineup: Dragic-Richardson-Childress-Clark-Warrick
All of these guys, even Dragic, can jump out of the gym and run the floor. While that doesn’t always translate to good basketball, it is still a nice look to be able to offer.

Oh, das sind Neuigkeiten für mich. Na dann ist ja gut, wenn er selbst gehen wollte dann braucht man auch nicht um ihn zu trauern in dem Sinne dass er von seinem einzigen NBA Zuhause, einem Gewinner, nach Toronto, einem Verlierer, geht. Ich wünsche ihm alles Gute!

Sehe ich ähnlich...
Trotzdem kriege ich nach wie vor ein wenig Angst vor dem riesengroßen klaffenden Loch auf PF und dem Logjam auf der 3... bin mal gespannt, wie sich das auf dem Feld auswirkt.

Der Angriff wird wahrscheinlich dem von 2006 ähneln (als Amaré verletzt war), Bei den Rebounds wird aber Marion fehlen und in der Vt auch. Wobei Childress in der Vt etwas wett machen sollte.
Edit, aber wenn ich mir das so überlege wird es ja nicht mehr ein ganz so schnelles Team sein mit dem Run and Gun (auch hier fehlt Marion und nun auch Barbosa).

Aber um den Angriff mache ich mir kaum Sorgen seit auch Hedo an Bord ist. Natürlich haben wir nicht mehr das was wir mal hatten mit Amaré, aber nun haben wir einen 6'10 Typen der den Pick&Roll leiten kann. Ich bin sowas von gespannt auf die neuen Suns!
